The Jim Boyd Hoe

The hoe was discovered in Wisconsin by another member, Frank Spangler in the mid Seventies. Frank was in the Sales Department at Westinghouse and traveled throughout the United States. He introduced it to the membership and it was an instant success.

The original Hoe was made from a mowing machine knife, a hardened steel triangular blade with a wooded handle.

Jim Boyd joined the Mansfield Men’s Garden in 1969. Jim was an outstanding salesman of Garden Club Hoes, Caps, Shirts and Jackets and the Hoe was his best seller. The proceeds from these items are used for Scholarships.

The Hoe had been such a success that when Jim died in 1995 his fellow members decided to name the useful hoe after him.

THE HOE IS AVAILABLE AT KINGWOOD CENTER GIFT SHOP. THE LINK IS ON THE WEBSITE.
